Once Upon A Time Summary
After a scare at her house, a reluctant narrator tells herself a “bedtime story”. There is a mother, father, and young son. Immediately the family insures their home, puts up trespasser's warning signs and put a fence around the pool to keep their son safe. Riots begin to take place in the neighborhood. As a result, the family installs an electronically controlled gate. Then the burglaries take place because people are starving. Thus, the family puts bars over their windows and installs an alarm system. Later people outside the suburb begin to stay on the streets of the suburb. And so, the family begins to look at additional security for their fenced yard. Therefore, the family installs razor wire on the top of their fence. Afterwards their young son is pretending to be a prince crawling through a thicket of thorns. Consequently, he crawls into the razor wire and is killed.
Summary Reflection
1. Explain the process you went through to write this summary. Please be specific.
I started by choosing which story I was going to write about and I chose this one because it was an interesting story about people being paranoid which drove them into going crazy with security and the thing that was sopose to keep them and their kid safe ends up killing the child. After I chose the story, I searched for the main points in the story. Finally I wrote it with transition words.
2. What qualifies this paper as a summary? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them?
A summary is a shortened description on whatever you have read. A summary requires the author's ideas and it must be shorter than what you read. All I did for this summary was give all the main parts in the story.
3. What piece of advice would you give someone writing a summary for the first time? Why?
Make sure the summary has all of the story but is smaller than the story.
